Another week is coming to a close. I'm down 20 pounds as of today! Looking forward to the next five weeks to see how much I'll be able to lose during the 3 month program. Workouts continue to go well. John and Joy know what buttons to push to keep me going. They both push me to my limit with each workout.

Nutrition is by far the most frustrating part of the makeover. Lisa is a great advisor and is very patient with my diet. I'm eating better than I ever have and am learning each and every day about the effects of proteins, carbs, fats and portion control. It's very complicated and something that has to be watched closely. Thank god Lisa is there to monitor my intake and offer advise as to how it can improve.

I've been a regular at the dentist office I'm preparing to have my teeth whitened on the 31st. The staff at Drs Cooper, Spiller, Nahata and Lubinsky are tremendous! They are all very genuine and take interest in all of their patients. I'm welcomed warmly by each new staff member that I meet I they are extremely supportive with my role in the makeover contest. The Drs do a great job at educating and updating their staff on there promotional activity.

I miss Elements. I haven't been there in two weeks and miss the staff and the deep tissue massages that are so effective. I'm going to try to schedule a message tomorrow if time permits. Working the 11 PM to 7:30 AM shifts the next two day is going to reek havoc on the rest of my schedule. Thank goodness it's only for two days and then I'll have the weekend off.

More to follow.

Makeover Day

Today was my full makeover day. It started with my usual 8:15 workout with John. That was followed by an 11 AM dentist appointment with Drs Cooper, Spiller, Nahata and Lubinsky. The day concluded with a 3:00 massage at Elements. Not a bad day overall.

My workout this morning with John was more difficult than usual. I think he was getting back at me for being late. Our usual 45 minute upper body workout was done in 30 minutes. We didn't miss any routines, he didn't cut my reps short, and he pushed me just as hard as he always does. I've noticed that I'm lifting more weight, I can do more reps and I have a great deal more stamina than when I first started. My workouts are much less frustrating than when I first started. So far I've lost 13 lbs and am excited about the prospect of being below 250 lbs at my next weigh-in on Friday...my goal weight is 248, down from my starting weight of 263.

At the dentist I was warmly greated by the receptionist who knew why I was there and congratulated me on being chosen in the contest. The Receptionist, Carol, Melissa, Dr. Libinsky and their entire staff were warm, friendly, enthusiastic and professional. Dr. Libinsky is eager to get started on my makeover and has me scheduled for a cleaning tomorrow morning. Although there isn't alot that needs to be done, he wants to leave plenty of time to complete the work for our May 2nd coming out party.

What would I do without Elements Therapeutic Massage! I called them at noon and was able to get a 3:00 appointment with Shanna. I needed this desperately due to my fatigue from my upper body workout earlier in the day. Shanna worked wonders on my back with a deep tissue message. A 50 minute workout went by sooooooo fast! Afterwards I ALWAYS walk away feeling so relaxed. The aches and pains that were present upon my arrival no longer exist.

Now I'm ready for another day day with John, who will work me just as hard as the day before. Thank you John!

my first blog!

I'm two weeks into my fitness training and met my weight loss goal of 8 lbs. I feel better physically and find that I have a great deal more energy. The workouts are VERY tough; so hard that I find myself hesitating/delaying my departure from home because I know what is about to happen...especially on cardio days; I HATE those days! John and Steve are GREAT instructors and know just how far to push me. They know my limits and bring me too them with each and every workout. I come away from training exhausted but feeling great.

The workouts are getting easier as I become more experienced and comfortable with the routines. I've made good progress with an increase in weights and repetitions. So although difficult, it is getting somewhat easier with time.

The involvement by Elements is soooooooo great. After four days of workouts and your are in pain over every inch of your body, there is nothing better in the world that the treatment that one receives at Elements. I'm a new man after a message. I've had two thus far and am already looking forward to my next one on Friday. They are essential to the Makeover and we are lucky to have them involved!

MY DIET:
M-F I find the diet to be easy (and enjoyable). Weekends on the otherhand are much more difficult. I'm not as busy and find myself in the kitchen and wanting to eat. Today has not been the greatest of days and I know that it will requier more work during the upcoming week to make up for bad habbits that have existed for so many years. As I move forward I am going to have to plan better on my weekend and be more dedicated to my nutrition and diet. I can't use the weekends as an excuse! These changes are for a lifetime and not just M-F. I HAVE TO BE more disceplined and more committed to change on the weekends, especially when I'm bored with nothing to do.
